Method for obtaining magnetic resonance imagining (MRI) data, comprising: generating F≥2 imagining sequences for imagining a selected slice of a subject 101, each sequence comprises N segments, N≥1, including an excitation pulse and localizing gradient field, during each sequence the excitation pulses are separated by a time period shorter than a recovery time of static material so it’s in a state of magnetic saturation while dynamic material arriving within the slice since a previous excitation pulse is not magnetically saturated; acquiring excitation signals emitted to acquire F x N portions of k-space data and reconstructing in the image domain forming F images with a temporal resolution defined by the generation time of N segments 102; defining F ≥ M ≥ 2 of M temporal bins 103 representing phases of a cardiac cycle and identifying and sorting the F x N portions of k-space data into the associated temporal bins 104 so each temporal bin comprises multiple portions of k-space data which, when reconstructed, forms an MR image having a temporal resolution of the time duration of the corresponding temporal bin; and an associated apparatus.
