A quick release support apparatus comprises a substantially C-shaped main body, having a base 11, top 12 parallel to the base, and back 14 extending between the top and base. A guide plate 20 is slideably attached to the base and a clamp mechanism comprising a lower jaw 32, upper jaw 31, and a cam lever 33 connected to a threaded rod (34 fig. 6). Each of the top and base of the main body, the guide plate and the lower jaw of the clamp mechanism are provided with an aperture through which extends the threaded rod. The apparatus may removably secure a container (300 fig. 10) such as a window box to a surface such as a window sill (S fig. 9).
