Japanese nouns correspond with Chinese nouns-adjectives： A Comparative research on Japanese-Chinese Homographs with the focus on Part of speech

In this paper, we studied 66 Japanese-Chinese Homographs which are nouns in Shinmeikai Kokugo Jiten and are nous-adjectives in The Contemporalry Chinese Dictionary. We find that among the 66 words, 39 words have different syntactic functions in Japanese and Chinese just as shown in the dictionaries. The most important reason is that the ways of conversion from nouns to adjectives are different. In Chinese a noun can be converted to an adjective wihout any changes, while in Japanese a noun should be converted to an adjective by adding“teki”. Also we find that among the 66words, 27 words have the same syntactic functions in both Japanese and Chinese. The reason why they are given different part of speeches in the two dictionaries is that the classification standards of the part of speech are different. Some of the homographs which are "Shuxingci"　in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary also are adjectives in Japanese but they would always be considered nouns in Shinmeikai Kokugo Jiten because they modify a noun by adding“no”instead of 〝na"．
