摘要

At the beginning of the 20th century, Yingkou was opened for trade well before Dalian became the main trading port in Northeast China. Because of this, it was Yingkou that received most of the attention from Meiji era Japan. Newchang, in Northeast China became prosperous as a result of the bean trade during the Qing dynasty. However, because of increasing sediment deposits in the Liao River, Yingkou became the main place of trade and Newchang was reduced to an unimportant village. On the basis of the British Treaty of 1858, Yingkou was officially opened for trading under the name of Newchang. This paper describes the relationship between Japan and Yingkou, which was opened due to the Meiji Restoration.
