This paper proposes a hybrid optimization methodudfor optimal allocation of wind turbines (WTs) that combines audfast and elitist multiobjective genetic algorithm (MO-GA) and theudmarket-based optimal power flow (OPF) to jointly minimize theudtotal energy losses and maximize the net present value associatedudwith the WT investment over a planning horizon. The method isudconceived for distributed-generator-owning distribution networkudoperators to find the optimal numbers and sizes of WTs amonguddifferent potential combinations. MO-GA is used to select, amongudall the candidate buses, the optimal sites and sizes of WTs. Audnondominated sorting GA II procedure is used for finding multipleudPareto-optimal solutions in a multiobjective optimization problem,udwhile market-based OPF is used to simulate an electricity marketudsession. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated with anud84-bus 11.4-kV radial distribution system.
