Permeability estimates from acoustic logs (Stoneley waves) and NMR logs were comparedusing data from a geologic section consisting of sandstone and shale beds. Thepermeability results show very good correlation for these two different methods. Datafrom a gas-bearing zone shows high permeability values from acoustic data and lowvalues from NMR. The difference between these two permeability results can be usedas a gas zone indicator.
