A matrix method for mooring system analysis isextended to address the dynamic response of towed underwatersystems. Key tools are equivalent linearization and small perturbationtheory, and a pitching towfish model. Two examples ofapplication of the technique are provided. The first studies a fundamentallimitation to constrained passive heave compensation, while the second concerns the use of floated tethers as a meansfor dynamic decoupling.
