Investigation for the Actual Condition of Using Bus in Nagasaki Prefecture by Questionnaire

At Gotoh Area, Tsusima Area and Iki Area (called Distant Islands) in Nagasaki Prefecture, the working state of bus is hard, and even maintenance and management in the present situation was swayed by misgivings. For this reason, in these Distant Island, we made a survery for carrying plan of the promotion of using bus with Nagasaki City by questionnaire. This survery was done to grasp living traffic condition of local residents and the demand. As a surverying way, in Distant Island, we picked out different local characteristics and surverid by questionnaire, how to make a round of calls, in Nagasaki City, we did an event of technology festival at Nagasaki University. As a result, many of bus users are the aged both in Distant Island and in Nagasaki City. In addition, demand of improvement are "Operation of an extra bus by the hour" and "Meeting with other means of tranportation" in Distant Island, and are "Extending the last bus", "Changing the bus" and so on in Nagasaki City. Therefore, introducing "Demand-bus" in Distant Island and "Omnitaxi" toward the dead of night in Nagasaki City is considered.
