A New Fastener using Half-Moon-Shaped Bolts for High-Strength Steel Member Part 1 Outline of Bolts and Bearing Failure of Joints

摘要

The authors have presented the half-moon-shaped bolts for a fastener of high-strength steel members.To show the availability of the bolts, loading tests were performed on the joint using a half moonshaped bearing bolt. The strength of the joint was so strong that new failure pattern such as bearingfailure would be observed. Therefore, the mechanics of the bearing failure of the joint was investigatedprecisely. The joint was analyzed by non-linear finite element methods using advanced front adaptivemeshing technique. This paper showed a effectiveness and performance of the bolt joint and themechanical properties of bearing failure through test and analysis results.
