Investigations on Damage and Restoration of Urban Flood Disaster by Nagasaki Heavy Rain Fall in 23 July 1982

The heavy fall which swept over Nagasaki district in Juiy 23 1982 damaged so seriously to Nagasaki city. The central part of Nagasaki city submerged about two meters in depth by the flash flood and the landslides took place at many places in the suburbs. The urban flood damage was serious : the roads were broken by landslides, lifelines such as waster supply, electric power and coal gas supply and facility for communication were broken, the elecric power plant and air conditioning system of modern building were submerged. In the present paper, damage restoration of urban flood damage and new disaster preventions are reported.
