Since fatigue damage in steel highway bridges has been reported, the latest version of the design code specifies that the fatigue design should be carried out. Although the detail of the fatigue design method is described in the fatigue design recommendations, its applicability to various traffic conditions is not clear. In this study, the influence of difference in percentage of heavy vehicles between lanes on the live load modification factor which consists of the simultaneous loading factor and the T-load modification factor is evaluated for simply supported or three span continuous 2-lane highway bridges with four maingirders.
