Bio-évaluation de la qualité de l'eau: établissement d'un protocole d'échantillonnage simplifié, basé sur la collecte des macroinvertébrés benthiques sur les seuils des rivières à charge de fond graveleuse

A sampling protocol of the benthic macroinvertebrates (indicator of the water quality) was established on a study site of the River Allier and on an upstream longitudinal reach of the River Loire. It appeared that the geomorphological unit riffle was the best unit for sampling. Compared with sampling methods used in other countries, the protocol MMS-GUR (" Macroinvertebrates living in the Mineral Substrates of the Geomorphological Unit Riffle ") has some advantages: 1) in-situ it is easy to locate the riffle and this unit is easier to access than other GUs. 2) Choose the riffle as sampling unit allows reducing the sampling area. 3) Using of Surber net allows sampling similar surface areas. 4) The application of this sampling protocol is possible from the source to the disappearance of the riffle. 5) The saving of time insitu or in laboratory (genus determination but possibility to reduce to EPT) is reflected on the cost. 6) It is possible to compare rivers in similar conditions.
