Increasing anthropogenic activities inudsensitive coastal environments has drawn a globaludattention in present era and protecting coastal zonesudfrom over exploitation has become a subject toudremarkable stress in coastal management of India.udSeveral studies has already described that RemoteudSensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS)udare combined and advanced decision support systemudfor storing, structuring and analyzing any informationudin a scientific way. The present paper provides anudoverview of GIS application for conserving naturaludresources and making a smart coastal area in India. Itudis also described that how a decision support systemudcan be developed for monitoring & outlaying anyudcoastal area to plan out the various activities alongudthe coastal zones. The GIS technology was used hereudto provide the information for micro and macro leveludspatial planning of natural resources of coastal areasudin India on a sustainable basis. For mapping,udmonitoring and indexing the study area ArcMap andudArcScene, two basic and powerful platforms of ArcGISudsoftware were used. With the help of tools in ArcTooludbox like 3D analyst, Spatial analyst, Multidimensionudtools etc. and respective methods like Rasterudinterpolation, Raster surface, Extraction were appliedudfor geographical referencing, projecting the area andudgenerating contour lines.
