Dr. G. Syda Rao, Director, CMFRI retired fromudservice on superannuation on 31.07.2013.udAppointed in the first batch of Agricultural ResearchudService on 6.1.1977, Dr. G. Syda Rao, one of theudrenowned marine fisheries scientists in Indiaudassumed the charge as Director, CMFRI on 8thudJuly, 2008. Under his stewardship during 2008-ud'13, CMFRI reached pinnacle of glory in the worldudarena of marine fisheries. During his momentousudtenure as Director, the research outputs of CMFRIudhave been able to integrate with all states, as timelyudinterventions, advices on several issues and enabledudthe country to manage marine fisheries in audsustainable manner and the institute's research dataudregained the status of official figures of Govt. ofudIndia.
