World aquaculture production ( 2013) was to theudtune of 97 million metric tons worth USD 157udmillion, contributing to 43% of total world fishudproduction. That Asia contributes to over 90% ofudaquaculture fish production of the world undoubtedlyudestablishes the primacy of the fish farmers of Asia inudaddressing the food and nutritional security of fishudmongers of planet Earth. The dominance of the Asianudregion is anchored upon the congenial climaticudconditions and ecosystem diversity of the waterudbodies, availability of numerous candidate species,udwarm temperatures resulting in faster growth, highudproductivity of waters, entrepreneurship of fishudfarmers, reduced cost of inputs including labour andudthe ever increasing demand for fish.
