The oilsardine, Sardinella longicepsud(Valenciennes, 1847), is a major pelagic fisheryudresource of Malabar and Konkan coast. At Karwar,udthe fishing season for oilsardine is from August-Mayudand the peak season is from October to March. Duringudthe current year, after the ban period, the oilsardineudfishery by the purseseine boats started from the firstudof August, 2011.
