Haemolymph proteins of the Indian white udshrimp, Penaeus indicus (H. Milne Edwards) udII. Moult stages and ovarian development

Haemolymph proteins of the Indian white shrimp, Penaeus indicus in various udstages of the moult cycle and ovarian development were characterized by udSodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel discontinuous electrophoresis ud(SDS-PAGE). No specific protein or polypeptide was detected during the various udmoult stages. In the females with developing and mature ovary, a distinct udhaemolymph protein pattern was observed. The presence of female specific udproteins in the haemolymph is described. The FSPs stained positive for PAS, udOil Red O and Alizarin Red. The peculiar pattern of hemocyanin fractions udduring vitellogenesis is discussed.
