All the developments brought about in different sectors of fisheryudproduction, processing, storage and infrastructure facilities are orientedudmainly towards export markets. Commercial significance of primaryudmarkets has been mostly shifted to new urban centres. The present paperudreveals the macro level market value of marine fishes at first and lastudsales and also gives a comparison of the price structure of marineudproducts in domestic and export markets. It also assesses the exportudperformance of finfish and value-added products and their multidimensionaludimpact on domestic trade. The adoption of seafood safetyudnorms in the domestic and export marketing system is also elucidated,udgiving special emphasis on the need for improving the quality standardsudmaintained in the domestic markets.
