Sustainable fisheries management optionsudif implemented without fallacies indicateudpossible enhancement of harvestableudpotential in Indian EEZ to a possibleudextent of 6 million tonnes or more, thanudreducing it. Opportunities in open sea cageudculture and related developments in theudfield of mariculture during the last 5 yearsudshow a way forward in open seaudmariculture practices and propose audproduction ideal to the tune of 4 millionudtonnes in the coming years fromudmariculture sectoral one. Highudmariculture production in countries likeudChina owes to production of sea weedsudand molluscs.
