Controlled captive culture of fin fishesudin open water bodies (seas, reservoirs, lakes)udis mostly done in pens and cages. Open seaudcage culture of the Asian sea bass Latesudcalcarifer ,was carried out for the first time inudthe Bay of Bengal off Chennai by CMFRI duringudFebruary - August 2010. The execution of theudprogramme began with the fabrication ofudsuitable cages with proper accessories,udidentification of site, procuring and nurseryudrearing of seed, transportation and stocking ofudfingerlings and open sea rearing till harvest
