Growth response of cobia Rachycentron canadum (Pisces:udRachycentridae) under the hypersaline conditions of theudEmirate of Abu Dhabi

Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) are a migratory pelagicudspecies and are present in the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, SouthudAfrica to the southern Japan, all tropical and subtropicaludoceans and seasonally in temperate waters. Cobia areudreported to withstand a wide range of water temperatures andudsalinities. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cobia, knownudlocally as sikel, is a common fish in the local markets andudusually attains high prices. UAE is listed as one of the topudfive producers of wild caught cobia in the world. Due to theirudhigh growth rates and adaptability to different culture facilitiesudand conditions, cobia aquaculture operations are expandingudthroughout the world 4,6,7,8,9.
