In nature, organisms can survive only in appropriate environments, interact withudeach other and are influenced by the whole complex of environmental factors. Ecology isudthe interaction of organisms with their environment, studied usually by trying to understandudthe distribution and abundance of organisms. An understanding of the ecological principlesudis needed for the sustainable use of resources, and to evolve strategies, for the mitigation ofudenvironmental problems
