On the periodic segregation of aluminum and its alloy slabs cast by continuous casting apparatus

Using the continuous casting apparatus, aluminiun and its alloy slabs were made under various conditions, and the authors investigated the periodic segregation that appeard in the slabs obtained. The segregation was investigated by micro and macro structure, and results on chemical analysis of periodical segregated samples, and it was tested by micro-hardness. From these results, the mechanisum of the periodic segregation can be explained by using our schematic diagram of the segregation.
