Drainage surveys and airborne geophysical surveys of aud600 km2 area from Blair Atholl to Braemar identifiedudseveral targets near Glenshee within the Ben EagachudSchist, the host formation of the Aberfeldy deposits, lyingud30 km along the Dalradian strike to the SW. Integratedudgeological, geochemical and geophysical surveys haveudbeen carried out over these targets. The extensive cover ofudpeat and glacial overburden, particularly over the softerudlithologies of the formation, hinders geological mappingudand near-surface leaching has destroyed most of theudsulphide. The presence of base metals and baryte is bestudshown by detailed drainage sampling and the sulphidebearingudgraphitic schist can be traced through driftudcovered ground by VLF-EM, IP and SP surveys. Sixudshallow boreholes were drilled on the basis of theudgeochemical and geophysical anomalies and mapping ofudthe available outcrops.udZinc-lead mineralisation has been found in the elasticudlower member of the Ben Eagach Schist as well as in theudupper member of graphitic schist. Vein baryte with minorudbase metals is present in the Ben Lui Schist, a higherudMiddle Dalradian formation, in southern Glenshee.udThe detailed information available for the Glensheeudarea is listed in the Data Package. A charge of &lOOO willudbe made for a copy of this information, consultation withudstaff, drillcore examination and for the time of staff requiredudto make a short field visit to the area.
