Keyword : Situation analysis, ESP(English for Specific Purposes)ududSituation is important role to analyze the factors that have positive or negative impact in implementation of teaching and learning process. By knowing the positive or negative impact, it can overcome the obstacle in teaching and learning process so that the knowledge can be transferred effectively.ududThe purpose of the study was to describe the situation in ESP subject at English Department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang.ududThe research design in this research was descriptive qualitative. The research subject in this research was from class B who took ESP subject in the first semester of English Department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. To collect the data, the writer used questionnaire as the instrument.ududThe finding of this research there were several learner factors in ESP subject related to situation analysis. First, in ESP subject most of the students were interested in speaking skill (37, 5%) because they wanted to train their speaking fluently and understood what the people said. Second, most of the students agreed using English in the class (72, 5%). Third, most of the students preferred the material that was easy to understand (62, 5%). Four, most of the students preferred various resources of the material they were: from lecturer, books, handout, film, magazine, video, audio, and internet (65%). Five, most of the student preferred to learn English less than 4 times a week (77, 5%). Six, most of the students preferred to learn ESP subject indoor (70%). Seven, students preferred lecturer that was friendly, patient, fun and creative (67, 5%). Eight, most of the students preferred the process of teaching and learning could be fun and interesting (40%).
