The Relation among Resilience, Responses to Stressors and Unidentified Complaints in University Students. ―Comparison of the Effect of Resilience by the Difference in the Intensity of Objective Stress Experiences―

Resilience is a concept that is widely noticed for helping us to adapt adversity such as stress. The idea is on the assumption that adversity exists around us. The purpose of this paper was to clarify the relationship between the degree of adversity and the effect of resilience. The stress experience, resilience scale, stress response scale and unidentified complaint scale were rated on 174 undergraduates. As partial correlation coefficient adjusted for sex, there were no significant correlations between stress experience and resilience. However, there were significant negative correlations between resilience and stress response, and resilience and unidentified complaint. Moreover, partial correlation coefficient also revealed that a group with higher stress experience had higher correlation between resilience and stress experience compared to those who experienced few stress. The research was suggested that even though there were no significant correlations between stress experience and resilience, the effect of resilience varies according to a degree of stress experience. This study showed the characteristics of resilience that tends to have more effective with more stress.
