A Study on Urban Structure Focusing on the Role and Designation Policy of Centers：Case Study of Medium-sized Cities Developing the City Planning Master Plan

摘要

This paper aims to clarify the institution and designation policy of centres in city planning masterplan, and to acquire the fundamental knowledge for the preferable urban structure. The results are asfollows. Not only land use district, centers are located in citywide, including outside of city planningareas. Branch office and station have been chosen many centers, and therefore the traffic andadministrative function have a significant impact on the concept of urban structure as the designatedpolicy of centers. But hierarchy of the catchment area is not set in most cities, and catchment area isnot designated as walkable neighborhood area.
