We discuss characterization of the mutual phase-locking mode of operation in thedouble-mode oscillator and introduce FM receiver which incorporates the maximum lockingbandwidth，pull-in range，equivalent noise-bandwidth，and a third order distortionof demodulated signal. An approximate analytical solution for FM detecting action isderived from the nonlinear locking equation. This solution is then compared with exactnumerical calculation and with experimental results. The results indicate that excellentperformance may be expected of such a receiver.
