In this study the problem of quotations from Chinese classical literatures and narration of Genji-monogatari at the hahakigi-no-maki is argued. In particular this thesis treats of the question of quotation from the Gi-kon in the Hakushi-monju.Gi-kon is quotated by noblemen who are irogonomiin the Hahakigi-no-maki.They are interested in women who have certain points 0f resemblance to characters in classic Chinese literaryworks. As the result they intensify their iro-gonomi(the desire for ladies) all the more. And Chinese classical literature is used to mould themarginal world of Genji-monogatari.For instance, the Cho-gon-ka in the Hakushi-monju is repeatedly used to describe deaths of some charactors inthis story. And besides, Biwa-ko and Kyo-taku are utilized for depicting some ladies(Akashi-no-ue,Yu-gao so on).Furthermore this study argues that the life of Murasaki-shikibu who is the author of this story refl ects in some quotations from the Gi-konat the Hahakigi-no-maki.Its comical fi gure is made by the narration of gentlemen in the Amayo-no-shinasadame.These subjects are relate to the problem of fi ction and reality in Genji-monogatari.
