All the three families studied in this workpaper have served the prince, held a preeminent social position and benefited from the Fortune (i.e. wealth and good chances that they cleverly took). These factors helped them to access to the nobility (gentry for the Latard family, higher nobility for the Gantelet family, interrupted social advancement for the Goddet family). These interesting examples, that can be studied through several generations, show how social mobility was significant during XVIth and XVIIth centuries in Savoy, where ennoblement didn't relied only on ducal official acts.
