Effect of seed treatment and harvest date on the yield and quality of ware potatoes.

The objective of this project was to investigate the effects of pre-planting seedhandling procedures on the growth, yield and quality of the new Oak Park-bredpotato variety Rooster. Statutory regulations and increased sophistication inpackaging and presentation by retail outlets require that ware potatoes complywith narrower tuber size specifications. Appropriate pre-planting seed handlingprocedures provides the grower with an opportunity to influence emergence, cropestablishment, yield at early harvest, tuber size distribution and quality.
