An important methodological issue in the theory of knowledgeudis the question which kinds of items can serve asuddata that a proposal for the analysis of knowledge shouldudcover. The common items are instances of knowledge orudof some epistemic quality such as justification.udYet recent discussion has become more theoretical inudthis methodological respect. General conditions have beenuddefended that any adequate analysis of knowledge shouldudfulfil. The most prominent instance is presumably the internalism/udexternalism distinction, internalism and externalismudbeing highly general distinctions within accounts of justificationudor warrant (which latter are intended as parts of theudanalysis of knowledge).
