У статті здійснено огляд та аналіз наукових джерел, що в етимологічному та семантичному аспекті розглядають поняття «соціокультурної компетентності» майбутнього викладача іноземних мов.ud(The article provides an overview and analysis of scientific sources, which consider the concept of «social competence» of the future University teachers of foreign languages in the etymological and semantic aspects.udThe basis of forming the socio-cultural competence of the future foreign languages University teacher is the principle of «dialogue of cultures», which forms the theoretical idea for educating the foreign languages teachers. Based on the theoretical background research of the studies of scientists, it is found out that socio-cultural competence is rooted at social competence,udwhich is in itself, defined as an ability to apply the social knowledge and acquired skills and competence productively and effectively in order to build a successful system of formal and informal social networks and relations, which enable adaptation toudthe system of social relations and self –realization. The article gives the definition of the socio-cultural competence by a famous researcher V.V. Saphonova, who was the first to develop the conception of socio-cultural approach in foreign language teaching.)
