摘要

У статті розглянуто проблему специфіки персонажів у романах-метафорах «Процес» Ф. Кафки, «Галас і шаленство» В. Фолкнера та «Сто років самотності» Г. Г. Маркеса. Персонажі творів досліджено з погляду їхнього статусу, способів репрезентації та функцій у тексті. Виявлено риси, які є спільними для репрезентації персонажів в авторських варіантах романів-метафор.ud(The article deals with the issue of images of characters in three metaphorical novels by different European and Americanudwriters, namely The Trial by F. Kafka, The Sound and the Fury by W. Faulkner, and One Hundred Years of Solitude byudG. G. Márquez. The characters of the novels are viewed from the prospective of their status, specific ways of their representation, and their functions in the textual structure. The status and functions of characters in metaphorical novel differ from those of the traditional 19th century romantic or realistic novel: characters are no longer the main focus of the fictional text. Traditional novel tell a story, whereas metaphorical novel aims to create a fictional model of the world, therefore the characters are just a part of this model, their function is not more important than that of time or space. The three metaphorical novels show different approaches toudrepresenting characters, the number of main and minor characters, and their characteristic features; however, systems of characters in general have many similar features in all the texts. Special attention has been paid to discovering and analyzing the common features of characters, since these features are characteristic of the sub-genre of metaphorical novel in general.)
