Статтю присвячено дослідженню питання функціональної характеристики діалогу української та американської культур як засобу формування міжкультурної компетенції майбутніх учителів англійської мови; проаналізовано наукові доробки вітчизняних та зарубіжних учених щодо потрактування поняття «міжкультурна компетенція»udта особливостей української та американської культур; з’ясовано, що процес формування міжкультурної компетентності майбутніх учителів англійської мови є ефективним за умови наявності конструктивного діалогу міжudукраїнською та американською культурами, результатом якого стає взаємозбагачення обох націй.ud(The article is devoted to the research of the question of functional description of the dialogue between the Ukrainian and American cultures as means of forming of intercultural competence of the future teachers of English language; the scientific works of the domestic and foreign scientists in relation to interpretation of concept «intercultural competence» and the peculiaritiesudof the Ukrainian and American cultures are analyzed; it is found out that the process of forming of the intercultural competence of future teachers of English language is effective on condition of the presence of a constructive dialogue between the Ukrainian and American cultures, as a result of which both nations will be enriched. Moreover, the studies of English language should take place in the unity with the research of cultural values, traditions and mentality of the native speakers, on condition of a constructive dialogue between two cultures, in particular the Ukrainian and American ones. Having analyzed the works of the Ukrainian scholars (О. Goncharova, A. Maslova, G. Elizarova, S. Sokolovska) we came to the conclusion that the dialogue between the Ukrainian and American cultures as means of forming of intercultural competence of the future teachers of English language is of great importance and necessity. By the term «intercultural competence» we understand theudknowledge of social and cultural context of the use of the foreign language and the ability to communicate within the given context. Thus, in order to be able to communicate and cooperate with the representatives of other nationalities the future teachers of English language need to acquire the skills and experiences, necessary for solving the possible misunderstandingudand finding of compromises while socializing with the people form different countries.)
