摘要

In order to enhance their competitiveness or just to survive in theudmarket, companies have intensified their efforts to systematizeudprocesses related to Competitive Intelligence (CI). InformationudTechnology (IT) is a key componentudin this ccontext, since it affectsudmanagerial activities and supports decisionud-udmaking. Specially, ITudapplied to Competitive Intelligence encompasses “BusinessudIntelligence” (BI) Systems that includes tools and techniques forudsupporting decisionud-udmaking. Thude decisionud-udmaking support and theudfacilitation of managerial analysis have attracted the attention ofudcompanies to BI systems and also motivated researchers to study theudcharacteristics and impacts of these applications. BI has beenudconsidered a high priorudity in researches with CIOs since 2006,udprobably due to the necessity to improve business performance in theudscenario of great economical uncertainties. In Latin America, followingudthis global trend, analytical capacity and BI are considered topudprioritiesudfor 2012ud-ud2015. However, there is an emphasis inudtechnological aspects of development and utilization in detriment to theudfocus on managerial aspects. This approach makes difficult toudassociate the organization’s CI processes with the directions foruddesiudgning IT related applications. This paper studies the design of BIudsystems in alignment with the planning of CI. The adoptedudmethodological approach was a case study, performed in a largeudBrazilian graphic company that implements BI systems, highlightingudtudhe use of performance indicators. The discussion of the results wasudmade based on the perspectives of the CI planning and of the design ofudBI opportunities. The main contribution of this paper is to relate CIudand BI concepts, emphasizing the strategic aspeudcts of the design of theudBI system
