One of the areas that have mining potential is Sleman. Owned mining potential Sleman is sands mining. Sands mining also has an impact on the environment. Issues that will be examined is the implementation of IUP as an effort to control the environmental damage caused by sands mining in Sleman and obstacles or barriers in the implementation of IUP as control environmental damage caused by sands mining in Sleman. This research is empirical law; Data were collectedudthrough interviews with respondents and informants and literature studies. Based on Undang-Undang No 23 Tahun 2014 Tentang Pemerintahan Daerah, the process of obtaining a mining permits for sands mining activities are no longer provided by the government at the district level but has been taken over by the provincial government. Based on the research results, the implementation of IUP as an effort to control the environmental damage caused by sands mining activities in Sleman is good enough because it always gets control of BLH Sleman, Dinas SDAEM Sleman, and DPUP-ESDM DIY. Only IUP maintenance process takes a long time because of the many SKPD provide recommendations for the management of IUP. The writer suggests that the maintenance of mining permits for sands mining activities need to be made more efficient by cutting the number of SKPD related to the provision of recommendations.
