IMPROVING STUDENTS’ METAPHORICAL THINKING ABILITY OF udMATHEMATIC IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH SCIENTIFIC udAPPROACH IN THE 2013 CURRICULUM

This study was a quasi-experimental study aimed to examine students’ metaphorical udthinking ability in senior high school through scientific approach in the 2013 udCurriculum. The ability of metaphorical thinking is the ability to think that bridges udmathematical ideas of students with the existing phenomena, modeling withudstudents’ interpretation. These capabilities provide opportunities for students toudexplore knowledge in learning mathematics. Metaphorical thinking ability measuredudincludes the capability of connecting, inventing, discovering and applying. The udresult showed that there was a significant increase in the aspect of invention anduddiscovery , but it did not show a significant increase in connection and applicationudaspects.
