摘要

This study aims at determining whether there were differences between a class using the concept mapping and one without the concept mapping in the physics instruction of the seventh grade students on the subject of substances and their forms and also determining the concept mastering in the physics teaching of the seventh grade students on the subject of substances and their forms. The research method was experimental method. The population of the research was all students of grade VII of SMP N 2 Candimulyo of Magelang regency. The sample was carried out in two classes and one of them was class VII-B covering the mean difference and the concept mastering improvement test. Based on the research and the data analyses done, then, it could be concluded that (1) there was a significant difference between the class using concept mapping media and one without concept mapping media. The difference related to the average score of the posttest in which the experimental class had higher average score than the control class; (2) the concept mastering increased although it was till in the middle level and this could be seen from the number of normalized gain in the class using concept mapping (=) 0.3677.
