摘要

This paper describes laboratory experiments and presentsudresults for the performances of cold-mix, cold-layudemulsion mixtures. The main objective of the experimentsudwas to evaluate and improve the properties of the coldudmixtures. The mixture properties evaluated were:udvolumetric properties, indirect tensile stiffness modulusud(ITSM), repeated load axial creep and fatigue. Theseudproperties were compared with conventional hot asphaltudmixtures not containing any waste/recycled materials. Toudoptimise the performances of the mixtures, a target ofudITSM value of 2000 MPa was selected. At full curingudconditions, the stiffness of the cold mixes was found to beudvery similar to that of hot mixtures of the sameudpenetration grade base bitumen (100 pen). Test resultsudalso show that the addition of 1–2% cement significantlyudimproved the mechanical performance of the mixes andudsignificantly accelerated their strength gain. The fatigueudbehaviour of the cold mixes that incorporated cement wasudcomparable with that of the hot mixtures.
