We develop a theoretical formalism aiming at\ud predicting the effect of open-loop control on the global stability of a compressible\ud afterbody flow. Various methods are investigated, including an additional control device\ud in the lee of the main body, mass and heat sources and wall forcing, for instance base\ud blowing or wall cooling. Physical interpretations for the resulting eigenvalue\ud variations are proposed in terms of disturbance advection or production.
