The flow field around a square cylinder moving slowly with a constant velocity along the parallel to side-walls of channel was studied by the flow visualization and the numerical ana1ysis. The effect of the channel side-wall and the cylinder position to the flow field was discussed in the range of 0.05 ~ 30 of Reynolds number (Re=BU/ ν) and 2 ~ 5 of side-wall parameter (h=H/B). It was found that numerical results of the flow fie1d agreed with experimental ones. From numerical results on the flow fie1d, we calculated fluid forces actiong on the square cylinder and clarified their characteristics. Besides,we proposed a formula on the drag characteristic in Re=1 ~ 30 and h=2 ~ 5.
