En el presente trabajo, se hace una descripción de los sistemas numéricos usados por diferentes culturas de la antiguedad, describiendo sus principalesudcaracterísticas y el manejo aritmético dado por éstas para resolver los diferentes problemas que se presentaban a diario. De la misma manera, para algunas de lasudculturas, se analiza el hecho de cómo éstas realizaron la transición de la aritmética al álgebra. Finalmente se presenta una propuesta didáctica, basada en situacionesudproblémicas que pueden ayudar al estudiante de grado octavo a entender que el álgebra es el paso natural después de la aritmética. / Abstract. In this work, we make a description of the numerical systems used by some of the antiquity cultures, describing its most important characteristics asudwell as the arithmetic management given by them to handle the several problems presented each day. In the same way, for some of the previous cultures, we discussesudthe transition of the arithmetic to algebra given by them. Finally we made a didactic proposal based on problem situacions that may help to student of eighth grade toudunderstand that the algebra is a natural step after the arithmetic.
