This work is describes and compare the implementation and exploitation of themost common semi-empirical methods for dual-stream (coaxial) jet noise prediction.Six different methods available in the literature were numerically implemented andvalidated against experimental results. In addition, a detailed discussion is presented inorder to show the advantages and disadvantages of each empirical model employed, aswell as its limitations.Special attention is given to the so-called Four-Source model, developed in theInstitute of Sound and Vibration (ISVR). This method was carefully examined since itrelies on physical assumptions to describe the noise sources inside the coaxial jet flow.Although, it is still an empirical method, its results are found to be more consistent andreliable than the others methods considered.
