Evaluation of the voltage support strategies for the low voltage grid connected PV generators

Admissible range of grid voltage is one of theudstrictest constraints for the penetration of distributedudphotovoltaic (PV) generators especially connection to lowudvoltage (LV) public networks. Voltage limits are usually fulfilledudeither by network reinforcements or limiting of power injectionsudfrom PVs. In order to increase PV penetration level further, newudvoltage support control functions for individual inverters areudrequired. This paper investigates distributed reactive powerudregulation and active power curtailment strategies regarding theuddevelopment of PV connection capacity by evaluation of reactiveudpower efforts and requirement of minimum active powerudcurtailment. Furthermore, a small scale experimental setup isudbuilt to reflect real grid interaction in the laboratory byudachieving critical types of grid (weak and sufficiently stiff).
