La soutenabilité de la coopération Nord-Sud entre organisations agricoles. Le cas du partenariat entre Agriculteurs français et développement internationale (AFDI) et la Confédération nationale des producteurs de cacao du Cameroun (CONAPROCAM)

The Cameroon national confederation of cocoa producers (CONAPROCAM) and the agri-agency Agriculteurs français et développement international (AFDI) have developed a North-South partnership that appears as a virtuous cooperation model. Indeed it intends to go over a traditional development aid paradigm by enhancing mutual exchanges while proclaiming the objective of making the southern producer organization more self-dependent in the long term. Based on the experience taken from a mission of strategic planning support related to the service activities that CONAPROCAM provides to its members, the study offers to analyze this partnership from the angle of the dependence/self-dependence dialectics in order to try to understand its potential of sustainability. Using the key concept of reproductibility, this cooperation relationship is analyzed as both the exemplification of a dependence issue and a partnership which balance is unstable. Then it shows the extent to which the relationship between AFDI and CONAPROCAM is grounded on a producer organization's capacity building logic, working as a powerful though fragile lever for self-dependence, which maintains this partnership in its quest for sustainability.
