摘要

Ever since Global Positioning System technology appeared, there hasbeen an active discussion about developing a similar service for indoorenvironments. Applications for indoor RILS (Real-time Indoor LocationSystem) range from Business Intelligence to security appliances and their useis sure to have a signi cant impact on society. Though several alternativeshave been explored throughout the years, no solution has been able to strikea balance between ease of use, expandability and low cost that would allowone of them to become mainstream.Taking on this challenge, this document explores the state of the artof RILS, classi es them, identi es their advantages and disadvantagesand proposes an alternative solution: FIBER. Furthermore, a real worlddeployment of said solution and further discussion about the results obtainedis also included.
