摘要

The main purpose of this final degree project was to continue, improve, expandand finish the development of a Software Defined Networking (SDN) based DistributedMobility Management (DMM) solution demo under the Connectivity management foreneRgy Optimised Wireless Dense networks (CROWD) EU FP7 project. The startingpoint of the project was an implementation of the CROWD project SDN-based DMMsolution, consisting of two separate networks we will call districts, each controlled byan SDN local Controller in the lower level of a two-tier hierarchy, the higher level ofwhich is controlled by a regional Controller. Each district has an OpenFlow controlledconfigurable backhaul accessed by 802.11 capable Points of Attachment (PoA). Theinitial stage of the project required extensive debugging and testing of the alreadyexisting code, fixing and optimizing the starting functionalities. Taking into consideration that this project is a proof of concept, in order to prove thecorrect functionality of the system and measure the performance, fully comprehensiveexperiments and tests have been carried out throughout the project. The experimentswere implemented using bandwidth performance tools, connectivity tools and a networkprotocol analyzer. Given the experiments carried out and the test results obtained,this project has successfully demonstrated the viability of the solution developed andimplemented.
