摘要

The main purpose of this descriptive studies is to look into the matter why many school teachers in secondary school do not interested to apply for the post of Guru Cemerlang. The purpose of this study also would like to see the level of competency between ordinary teachers and Guru Cemerlang and the differences between the competency. A few aspects of competency that will be seen are attitudes, knowledge and skills. Besides that, this studies also would like to see some of the training method that teachers need in order to increase their level of professionalism to achieve Guru Cemerlang. The studies has been conducted and the respondent are among 181 secondary teachers from 7 different schools in Labis zone at Segamat, Johor. The questionaires that have been distribute are divided into 3 parts in order to find out several information such as their backgrounds, reason for not applying the Guru Cemerlang, suitable training course that are needed, level of competency from attitudes, knowledge and skills. The study findings and results had been check by using Alpha Cronbach scale, for 30 teachers in one of the secondary school at Labis zone in Segamat. The results show a high finding items about 0.969. The study data has been analyze and the findings show that majority of teachers do not interested to apply Guru Cemerlang because they felt that they do not ready to uphold the post mentally. Most teachers also prefer to choose course that can increase their teaching skills. This studies also found that the level of competency for ordinary teachers is moderate and for Guru Cemerlang is high. Finally, there are several studies that have been propose for further research.
