In the winter season of 2012 and 2013, the cold day continued, the maximum snow depth reached 205 cm and the snow weight of the ground became 615 kg/m2. In spite of these surroundings, looking at the steep roof of 40 degrees to south which is covered with black asphalt roofing with sand, the maximum snow load stopped to 72 kg/m2 and the snow melted 25 day earlier completely. The followings are this cause. ① the average amount of evaporation was up to 4 kg/(m2・day) between the 25th January and the 6th March. ② Solar radiation in the winter season is usually less, but the average global solar radiation during the period reached 77 W/(m2・daytime). ③ The average daily amount of snow melting of the steep roof in the snow period reached 5.2 kg/(m2・day).
